Courtesy notices are generally mailed on or about the 1st day of each month. For owners that have an email on file, email notices are also sent at the beginning of each month and then periodically throughout the month for those that haven’t already been renewed. Owners should be prepared to provide proof of insurance and possibly other documentation for specialty license plates, i.e. Military, First Responders, Educators, etc.
Owners may renew in person at the Blount County Courthouse Room 104 or at the Hayden Satellite Office. Payments may be made in the following forms: cash, credit or debit card, cashiers and personal checks or money orders. We accept MasterCard, Visa, and Discover. Please note that a 2.5% transaction or convenience fee applies when making payments with debit or credit card and is paid to the financial services provider, the county does not receive any portion of this fee.
Owners may renew by mail. As the notice indicates, these should be mailed by the 20th day of each month to ensure they are processed prior to the end of the month to avoid any late penalties and interest that may accrue. Provide the entire notice, a copy of insurance and a check payable to Gregg Armstrong. Other verification documents may be required for specialty license plates, i.e. Military, First Responders, Educators, etc.
Owners may also renew at the Kiosk located at the Shell Station in Snead. There is also one located within the Blount County Courthouse. These are for renewal decals only.
